Day Forty One - Bromo Seltzer-Blue

Quote of the Day: "To be a photographer, one must photograph. No amount of book learning, no checklist of seminars attended, can substitute for the simple act of making pictures. Experience is the best teacher of all. And for that, there are no guarantees that one will become an artist. Only the journey matters." - Harry Callahan

Day Thirty Five - Tŷ Nant Cobalt Blue Glass Bottle Art

I found this wall art of Ty Nant's distinctive cobalt-blue bottles and Marsden Matting, (Also known as Marston mats, its alternative name is "Perforated Steel Plating" or "Pierced Steel Planking" sometimes abbreviated as PSP.), on the North side of the parking lot of Johnson & Company, P.C.. 2655 Kiesel Ave Ogden, UT.

FYI:
Ty Nant is a natural spring mineral water from Ceredigion Wales.
Translated into English the words Ty Nant mean "House by the Stream" (Ty=House and Nant=Stream). It is best recognised for its distinctive cobalt-blue bottle which was revolutionary at the time of its launch in 1989.

"The airfields common to the pacific islands during World War II were made from Marsden Matting and were built by the Seabees (slang for Construction Battalions) in a very short time.” - en.allexperts.com/e/m/ma/marsden_matting.htm

“The Pierced Steel Planks are 10′ long x 16″ Wide and made out of 10 gauge steel. The PSP mat was designed with holes to reduce the weight, improve aircraft traction and facilitate drainage. Flanging the holes kept the mat durable by compensating for the strength lost by removing a portion of the metal.
The planks joined together by a locking mechanism consisting of alternating rows of slots on one side and sliding interlocking projection on the other. The use of a spring clips lock the mats in place.
These mats are still in use by the US Army Air Corps for temporary runways, storage and parking areas for heavy equipment.” - www.calumetindustries.com/?page_id=176

QUOTE of the Day: “Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.” – Peter Lindbergh

Day Twenty Four - Lindquist Field

Took some more photos at Lindquist Field, the home of the Ogden Raptors, at 2330 Lincoln Ave, Ogden Utah.

Quote of the Day: "To take photographs means to recognize-simultaneously and within a fraction of a second-both the fact itself and the rigorous organization of visually perceived forms that give it meaning. It is putting one’s head, one’s eye and one’s heart on the same axis." - Henri Cartier-Bresson

Day Eighteen - Blue Dumpster

Today drove around the Lindquist Field, the home of the Ogden Raptors, at 2330 Lincoln Ave, Ogden Utah. In an alley on the South side of the field, I spotted a small rusty blue dumpster. I decided I could get a great abstraction photo by just photographing one of the lift points on the dumpster.

Quote of the Day: "When shooting industrial subjects and still lifes, it is a matter of finding the beauty in ordinary things, or outright creating beauty through careful juxtapositon, use of shadow, and finding interesting shapes and lines within something very ordinary." - George Barr - From: "Take Your Photography to the Next Level"
