It has been month and 16 days since I had major surgery, I have done a five mile hike on flat pavement with no problems and thought I was ready to do a simple hike up a canyon. Going up hill and down hill you use a different muscle set, and if it hadn't been for the wlking stick I took, I don't think I would have been able to make it back down the canyon. One reason why the hike was so difficult was because there was very little paths, most of the hike was climbing over boulders, through a water run off bed.
